California High School pitcher Ryan Olson from Western Christian School pitched the game of his life through six and two-thirds of an inning. Olson tallied twenty straight strikeouts and was one out away from clinching a perfect game. However, with one out remaining in the seventh and final inning Olson was taken out. Why? Because it was the school’s final home game of the season and it being senior day the coach wanted to lift the junior starter for a senior pitcher on his “Special Day.” I played in a Senior Day baseball game in High School, and let me tell you, it wasn’t all that special. If I was the senior coming in to replace a kid one out away from delivering a perfect game there’s no way I would allow the coach to put me in. I feel sorry for Olson and the Senior that replaced him, the coach definitely put him in a tough position. Screw Senior Day, a kid is throwing a perfect game, leave him in coach!
